Partnerships Lead (Employment)
$120K - $155K
Full-time
About the role
As Partnerships Lead, you own the demand side of our mission. Every student we train is a credential looking for a paycheck. You build the network of employers that turns one into the other.
You open the doors for our graduates. You build the relationships with trucking fleets, HVAC contractors, and construction firms nationwide. You turn a cold intro into a signed hiring commitment, and a one-off placement into a repeat partner who calls us when they need their next hire.
We believe one founder-type partnerships operator with the right tools, the right judgment, and a strong narrative beats a team of 10 dialing from a static list.
You will be the one who proves it.
What you'll be doing
Land hiring partners. This is business development in the real economy. You'll prospect, pitch, and close employers who commit to interviewing and hiring our graduates. You own the top of the employer funnel and you own the close. You make the business case — reliability, retention, tax credits, a pre-vetted pipeline — and you handle the hard objections without flinching. You're not asking for a favor. You're offering a better way to hire.
Own the employer relationship end to end. Define the stages, from first touch to signed commitment to repeat hiring. Instrument every one. Set the leading and lagging indicators. Report on them weekly. When a partner goes quiet, you know before anyone else and you re-engage them.
Negotiate commitments that hold. Interview slots, hiring targets, wage floors, onboarding support. You structure agreements that are real, not aspirational, and you make sure both sides deliver.
Build and ship AI workflows for partnerships. An outreach skill that researches a fleet and drafts a tailored pitch before you call. A pipeline tracker that surfaces stalled deals without a human pulling the report. A skill that flags which partners are due for a hiring push. You version-control them. You document them. You teach the team to use them.
Document everything. Your partnerships feed placements, which feed contract outcomes, which feed the whole company. When you change how a partner is managed, you write it up so ops, placement, and product can absorb it.
Who you are
You're entrepreneurial. Scrappy, resourceful, autonomous, low-maintenance. You move fast. You change the pitch, the target list, or the process the moment the data tells you to. No account is too small and no cold call is beneath you.
You own strategy and execution. You can write the 1-pager that defines which industries and employers we target, and you can run the CRM that keeps 50 open relationships from falling through the cracks. Most people do one. You do both.
Analytical to the bone. You think in leading and lagging indicators and you know exactly what that means. Employer meetings booked this week is a leading indicator for placements next quarter. 90-day retention at a partner is a lagging one — by the time it moves, the relationship is already made or broken. You design around the leading ones. You pull your own data, clean it yourself, build your own models. You don't wait on anyone to tell you which partners are cooling off.
You are AI-native in practice. You build Claude skills, push them to repos, and share them with your team. You think like an orchestrator: one person with the output of an entire BD team because you've built the systems to make that real. If you use ChatGPT to clean up emails and call yourself AI-native, this isn't for you.
You're a relationship builder who closes. People trust you fast, and you convert that trust into commitments. Warmth without a close is a nice coffee. A close without warmth doesn't renew. You do both.
You believe in the mission in your gut. You've spent time close to people the system has failed, or you're wired to fight for them. You can walk into a fleet's dispatch office and make a hard-nosed operator want to hire our graduates.
You create order out of chaos. You've worked at an operationally intense, high-growth startup. Three systems half-built, the team doubled in six mon
